We have so many local and not so local collectors of vintage Christmas (all year round) that I thought I would start this forum where the latest EBAY finds, information on vintage cardboard houses (a.k.a. putz), crafting ideas, etc. could be kept in one place.

Here are a few great places to get started:

www.littleglitterhouses.com
featuring the work of Putz artisan Howard Lamey

www.papatedsplace.com
the definitive site for the history of cardboard Christmas houses, it also features the work of Putz artisan Karl Fey
http://www.papatedsplace.com/forsale.html

www.thesaltboxcollection.com
Featuring the work of Putz artisan Kathy Pruitt

Vintage Christmas Lights--a history--The Antique Lights Museum
http://www.oldchristmaslights.com/

Where to get the "Sparkletown" line of reproduction cardboard houses by Radko
http://www.sissyinseattle.com/shiny_brite_2.htm

Large "putz" houses--reproductions
http://www.vintage-ornaments.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=VO&Category_Code=H1

Stockenberg's amazing homepage
http://antoinettestockenberg.com/

Please feel free to add links to your latest finds and share your crafting sources as well.

Maria

p.s. See the vintage/antique/vintage-inspired Christmas slideshow (which features assorted collections and a smattering of vintage Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving) at

For those of who love the old fashioned bottle brush trees, this site has some new ones available. They tend to be elaborate, large and expensive and perhaps not to everyone's taste or wallet, but are still pretty to look at.

I've visited every one of the sites listed and have enjoyed all of them. I'm so glad to have found such a wealth of information on cardboard houses and accessories. Keep it coming!

Between this and the Shop Croton forums, I am feeling very inspired. Maybe some of the people who visit this forum would like to know that there are Christmas-y things in the Shop Croton for the holidays slideshow that are antique or vintage.

WELCOME to the December, 2008 update of Trains-N-Towns™, the Official Newsletter of BIGIndoorTrains.com and BIGChristmasTrains.com
This newsletter targets people who like O Scale trains and Christmas Trains, especially those who are interested in combining On30 or O gauge trains with collectible villages. It is produced in conjunction with the Big Indoor Trains™ and Big Christmas Trains™ web sites.

This issue has two new articles by our project designer Howard Lamey, as well as updates regarding Christmas trains and coping with Christmas in general. Once again, if you also get our Family Garden Trains™ newsletter, you will notice that the parts about Christmas trains and about Christmas in general overlap, because we fell that they apply to both audiences, and also, we used that bit to wish all of our readers a Merry Christmas and very Happy New Year.

Topics discussed in this update include:

- New Article: Building a Bay Window House - Add variety to your
Christmas village with this new design inspired by
vintage cardboard Christmas houses.
- New Article: Free Scenery Set Pieces - Add a vertical dimension
to your indoor railroad or Christmas Village with little or no investment.
- Sneak Preview" for This Month's Garden Trains Newsletter
- Christmas Trains Still Available
- Other Christmas Notes
